The Linden Centre is located in Xizhou, a Bai minority village with thousands of years of history in Dali. Situated between the foothills of the towering Cangshan mountains and the boundlessly blue Erhai lake (3 km), close to Dali Old Town (17km), Xizhou enjoys beautiful scenery and a pleasant spring climate all year round.
The Linden Centre was originally built as a private residence by Yang Pinxiang, a local businessman trading on the Tea-Horse Road in the early 20th century. The site has been carefully restored to its original grandeur, preserving the traditional materials, artwork, and wood carvings and still includes three courtyards and a lush private garden and terrace overlooking rice paddies beyond the Centre’s walls.
All areas of the hotel have access to free Wi-Fi, and each room is equipped with traditionally Chinese bedding arrangements and locally crafted wooden furniture, an electric kettle, air conditioning, hairdryer, bathrobes, and a full private bathroom. In order to preserve this national heritage site, we have a designated smoking deck in the back courtyard but do not allow smoking inside the hotel.
At The Linden Centre, the magnificent history of Chinese culture is accessible to every guest. We stand apart from other boutique hotels by prioritizing experience over luxury and promoting a new model for experiential travel. We believe heritage protection to be a substantial component for a culturally sustainable business. The Linden Centre’s goal is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and culture between our guests and the traditions and history of our community.
After check-in at the Linden Centre, you will experience more than just a hotel room. The Linden Centre has 16 rooms and a variety of warm public spaces to make you feel at home. To facilitate a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of Xizhou and the traditions of the Bai people we offer several interactive activities like a walking tour of the morning market, calligraphy classes, a local
