Description
Formerly known as Craftsman's Gate, it is located in the east of the city and is named because it was once a place where various craftsmen lived. It is said that Helu, the king of Wu, once ordered the sword-making master Ganjiang to set up a furnace to cast swords here, so it is also known as the Ganjiang Gate. Later called "phase gate" is the change of sound. The door was stuffed in the early Song. On September 27, 2012, with the official completion of the protection and repair project of the ancient city wall in Suzhou, Xiangmen also glowed with new charm. The ancient city wall of Xiangmen section starts from Ganjiang Road in the south and ends at Ouyuan in the north. The newly built section is 370 meters long. With the ruins in the northern section, the total length is nearly 650 meters. . The "appetite" of this huge building is not small, and the use of Guangcheng bricks has reached 400,000. Most of them were produced by the Lu Mu imperial kiln, and some were donated by citizens. It is reported that the ancient bricks donated by citizens are used for the construction of the upper part of the water and land city gate.
