Description
The Great Wall at Huangya Pass is located at the northern end of Tianjin’s Ji County. This section of the Great Wall first began construction during the Northern Qi Dynasty of China’s North-South States era. During the Ming era, Yu Jiguang presided over the restoration of this ancient segment of the Great Wall. This section of the Great Wall is located among steep mountains. At the foot of the Great Wall, there are many farmhouse restaurants providing both food and lodging. This is favorite destination among the residents of nearby cities to take a leisurely weekend getaway. There are two entrances to the Great Wall at Huangya Pass, west and east. The west and main entrance is located at Huangya Pass and the east entrance is at Taiping Fortress. A good way to see the majority of the site is to start walking along the Great Wall from one entrance until you get to the other entrance. There is a museum and Beiji Temple close by.
