Description

Yuan's residence was designed by British and German engineers and designers. It is a European classical building. It is three stories high, with a brick and wood structure, 54 rooms in total, and a construction area of 2,089 square meters. The design features of this building are: there are so-called "hiding places" and "escape places". The "hiding place" is a small door on the right side of the second floor. There is a reinforced concrete staircase and iron railings inside the door. You can go up to the roof and down to the basement. If you close the small door, you can't find the place to go up and down. The "escape place" is an iron staircase in the pavilion on the third floor, which leads directly to the back garden door, so you can escape. In addition, an octagonal house is specially designed between the second and third floors of this building. Several windows face the Haihe River. Regardless of the tide, the river water seems to flow into the octagonal building, symbolizing that countless sources of wealth flow into the Yuan family.
