On October 11, 2024, my friend and I departed for Zhujiajiao, an ancient town in Jiangnan. We came to Shanghai to apply for European visa, and came to see this ancient town on the way.
We departed from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, took Metro Line 17 and got off at Zhujiajiao Station, and came out from Exit 1 to the pier. We chose the 40 RMB per person boat ride, which took us directly to the Fangsheng Bridge pier, the centerpiece of the town. Along the way, the scenery of the Jiangnan water town was beautiful, with lush trees on both sides of the river, simple and ancient houses, and clear water reflecting the blue sky, white clouds and coastal scenery, as if it were a flowing picture scroll.
After arriving at Feishengqiao Pier, we got off the boat and started to walk around the ancient town. Feisheng Bridge is the core attraction of the town. It is a very historical stone bridge that spans the river with a sturdy and ancient color. There is also the Release Pavilion near the Feisheng Bridge, where many tourists take photos.
Then we saw the old Qing Dynasty post office in Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, which is a very historical place that reminds us of the way people used to communicate in the past. There are also many teahouses along the river in the ancient town. We saw a few students sketching along the river, and they were very good at drawing the flavor of the ancient town.
