I. Departure and Arrival
I embarked on a two-day tour of Chongqing on October 2, 2024. Having been to Chongqing many times before for work and having a great impression of it, I decided to visit again during the National Day holiday. I was traveling with my family. We flew directly from Beijing to Chongqing. The airfare per person was around 2,500 yuan. We arrived in Chongqing at noon and would take a late-night flight back.
After arriving in Chongqing, we originally planned to take the subway or bus to the hotel. However, as the airport pickup service only cost 54 yuan, we decisively chose it. The driver in Chongqing was very enthusiastic. Although we were stuck in traffic for nearly two hours, he still cheerfully introduced the scenic spots and delicious food to us.

II. Day One: Arriving in Chongqing and Enjoying the Night View on the Mountain

Hotel Check-in and Dinner
I checked in at the Asiam Asia-America International Hotel, located in Evergrande Jiefangbei. There are three hotels in this building, and it seems that only Asiam offers breakfast. Its location is excellent. Just downstairs is the Bayi Snack Street. It's only five minutes' walk to Jiefangbei. The attractions such as the Yangtze River Cableway, the Mountain City Trail, Shibati, Huguang Guild Hall, Chaotianmen, and Hongyadong are all about 1 to 1.5 kilometers away.
After putting down our luggage, I found a store with a 4.8 rating opposite the hotel on a review platform and had dinner there. We ordered silver carp and some tripe as side dishes. Everything was cooked and served together. Even the slightly spicy version was very spicy, but it tasted great.

Jiefangbei and Chayanyuese
After dinner, I went for a walk at Jiefangbei to aid digestion. At first, I thought there weren't many people. But when I turned a corner and saw Jiefangbei, I realized that there were many people there. I also saw Chayanyuese. Since I had never been to Changsha before and had heard that it was very famous, I immediately placed an order. However, I was a bit disappointed as it seemed very ordinary.

Yangtze River Cableway
Originally, I planned to cross the river and go to Nanshan to see the night view the next day. But the driver suggested going at night. So, after checking into the hotel, I bought tickets on the official account of the Yangtze River Cableway. At around 4 pm, when I bought the tickets, it showed that I could take the cableway around 8:30 pm.
When the time came, I went to take the cableway. Fortunately, I was the first in line and managed to grab a scenic spot. At the south station, there is a viewing platform where you can take pictures of the opposite bank. The night view is very beautiful. Be sure to wait for a cable car to enter the frame.

Nanshan One Tree Viewing Platform
After getting out of the cableway, I took a taxi to the Nanshan One Tree Viewing Platform. The driver said that this scenic spot seemed to be open only for the National Day holiday. I first went to the viewing platform and then went to the rooftop of the building behind to take a look. Although the heights were different, the difference was not significant. After finishing the tour, I took a taxi back to Jiefangbei. Didi taxis are very convenient. In tourist gathering areas, you can get a ride almost instantly.

III. Day Two: Wandering in the Old City of Chongqing

Mountain City Trail
Today, I planned to visit the Mountain City Trail and Shibati. Then, I would go back to the hotel to rest. In the evening, I might consider going to Chaotianmen and Hongyadong. I took a taxi to the positioning point on the mountain of the Mountain City Trail - Jiasishi Nursing Home in Yuzhong District. However, due to the large number of people during the National Day holiday, the driver dropped me off at the Consul Lane. But it didn't add much walking distance.
The entire Mountain City Alley is well-preserved. The mountain path is not wide but full of charm. Personally, I think it's better than Shibati. Shibati is too commercialized and not very interesting. I walked all the way down to the Ren'ai Theater. It is recommended to go up to the platform ruins to have a look. There is a viewing platform. Then, you can walk down along the wooden plank road by the mountain. On the way, I also saw a glutinous rice ball stall. But the glutinous rice balls were not very delicious and are not recommended.

Shibati
After walking all the way to the bottom of the mountain, crossing the road and walking up the slope, then turning right and walking straight, you will reach Shibati. After entering from the middle, I felt that it was a bit too commercialized. So, I didn't go down any further and directly went up from the middle. There is an escalator here that can directly take you back to Xinhua Road.

Lunch and Rest
After returning to Xinhua Road, I was looking for something to eat. After searching for local specialties, I found Dengdeng Noodles in Shibati. I highly recommend their pea and minced pork noodles. They are very delicious. If you check in and collect, you will get a drink or a fried egg. If you don't have enough noodles, you can add more. The free pickled vegetables are also very delicious. We also ordered three-flavor noodles and beef noodles. But we all agreed that the pea and minced pork noodles were the best.
After having a full meal and on the way back to the hotel, we passed by a local vegetable market street. The strong sense of daily life there is something I really like. After returning to the hotel and resting for a few hours, as it was getting close to evening, I was preparing to go to Raffles City to overlook the river view.

Raffles City
I lined up to buy tickets and waited to go up. Originally, I thought that since the ticket cost more than 100 yuan, there wouldn't be many people. But unexpectedly, there were quite a lot of people. There are three high-platform viewing spots nearby. I had seen the other two on Xiaohongshu before and thought the river views there were not good. So, I still chose Raffles City.
