[Hainu Island will stop landing from 2018]

Hailu Island is known as the "Fairy Mountain on the Sea, the Kingdom of Gulls and Herons". It is 2 nautical miles away from the land. It is a fairy island bird kingdom that integrates myths and legends with beautiful natural scenery. It stands tall and independent in the turbulent sea. It is a paradise of life, where black-tailed gulls and yellow-billed egrets live together and symbiosis, interpreting the magic of natural life.

There is a beautiful myth about the origin of Hailu Island. It is said that Erlang Shen carried mountains and filled the sea to build Tokyo at the order of the Jade Emperor. Hundreds of birds jumped for joy and carried stones to help. One day, Erlang Shen was carrying two mountains and walking near Chengshantou. Suddenly, he heard a donkey howling in the East China Sea and a chicken crowing on the shore of the West China Sea. He was startled and his shoulder pole broke. The two mountains fell into the sea and turned into two islands, Hailu Island in the east and Jiming Island in the west. The broken shoulder pole turned into two stone pillars dozens of feet high, one behind Jiming Island and the other behind Hailu Island. The gulls that followed Erlang Shen to carry stones to fill the sea became the masters of the islands. They lived and multiplied year after year, and today there is a spectacle of hundreds of thousands of gulls and egrets covering the sky and the sun. It is because the immortals have gone to nowhere, and only the immortal birds are left here.

Hailu Island is not big, but it is full of fun. If you happen to see foggy sea, you will see the sea and sky floating, gulls and herons singing, appearing and disappearing in the rain and fog, as if you are in a fairyland. Siberian seals come here for vacation every spring. If you are lucky, you will find groups of seals resting in the sun on the sea rocks on the east side of Bantanshi.

The towering peaks and jagged rocks on the island are the safe habitats for the gulls. The abundant fish and shrimp in the Souvenir waters provide food for the young gulls to survive and grow. The suitable climate and natural pollution-free environment on the island make Hailu Island the only choice for the northern black-tailed gulls during their breeding season. The 28th Golden Rooster Award-winning film "Heaven-Gift" was also produced here, which took seven years to create.

The hibiscus, reeds, wild jujube trees, white birds and red flowers complement each other. Looking across the sea, the cliffs are steep and the flowers are in clusters. Hailu Island has been eroded by the tireless waves for thousands of years, with steep peaks and jagged rocks. Together with the rising and falling tides, the endless waves, and the fairy-like gulls and herons, it forms a unique island scenery that makes people reverie and linger!
