Xishuangbanna South Medicinal Plant Garden was founded in 1959. It is affiliated with the Yunnan Branch of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, part of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. With a focus on promoting and inheriting traditional medicine culture, it integrates modern ecology, garden landscape, plant classification, tourism, and other elements into one place. It is cleverly designed and divided into 12 individual areas according to the ecological habits of southern plants, creating a pleasing grand plant garden. It is praised as a living painting of "Compendium of Materia Medica".
