Before modern Hot Air Balloon Rides were introduced to China in 1982, the ancestor of Hot Air Balloon Rides, the "Kongming Lantern", had been flying in Xishuangbanna for thousands of years.

Hot Air Balloon Rides are classified as relatively safe aircraft by the International Aeronautical Federation and are classified as civil aircraft in China. Like airplanes, they need to obtain nationality certificates and airworthiness certificates issued by the state. Hot Air Balloon Rides are also a fashionable and romantic aviation sport, and as a popular low-altitude tourism project, they are booming abroad. The Hot Air Balloon Rides flight experience project of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of Chinese Academy of Sciences, a national 5A-level Attraction in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Relying on the unique natural scenery of tropical botanical gardens in Asia, Hot Air Balloon Rides take off from the Hundred Flowers Garden and Folk Museum. The blue sky, white clouds and breeze are waiting for your embrace; colorful flowers and rainforests in all seasons, peculiarly shaped Huludao, quirky plant mazes, mountains and rivers from far to near, and fireworks of human life are all in sight... The Hot Air Balloon Rides flight experience project is a tourism experience project introduced by the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and operated by Yunnan Yunying General Aviation Co., Ltd.
