Daling Village, formerly known as Pushan Village, is located in the northwest of Shilou Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou. The villagers nearby like to call Daling Village "Millennium Ancient Village". The village has been established for more than 800 years and has been selected as a famous historical and cultural village in China.
It exudes a lingering ancient fragrance because of the ancient towers, ancestral halls, oyster shell walls, etc. scattered in the small villages.
"The head of Lijiang River, the half-moon ancient village" is the overall pattern feature of Daling Village. Daling Village is built along the water, and the villagers are arranged in an orderly manner between the foot of Pushan Mountain and Daling River, basically in a half-moon shape. Daling Village is centered on an ancient street, with lanes and alleys on the side, forming a two-level transportation system of "main street and small alley", forming a "fishbone-shaped" street and alley pattern. Overall, the traditional village has a clear texture and a complete pattern, and has high historical and aesthetic value.
Daling Village is a typical Lingnan ancient village, with a well-preserved Lingnan-style building complex of about 9,000 square meters. There is an ancient stone bridge across the river in the village; an ancient pagoda stands in the southwest corner of the village; an ancestral hall with large-scale wood carvings; gatehouses, memorial archways, granite alleys, ancient trees, oyster shell walls, etc. are everywhere in the village, which is rare in the economically developed Pearl River Delta region.
There are many historical sites left in Daling Village, and there are nearly ten famous scenic spots. The Chen clan ancestral hall "Liuyuan Hall" was built in the Southern Song Dynasty; the "Xianzong Temple" was built in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, also known as Ningde Hall, which is the ninth generation ancestral temple of the Chen clan; Longjin Bridge is an ancient bridge built in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. It is made of red sandstone, with one pier and two holes, spanning the Yudai River. There are 16 columns and 15 square railings on both sides of the bridge deck, engraved with scrolls and patterns of the Eight Immortals. On the west end of the north side, a railing is engraved with a Westerner kneeling in a posture of holding a plate and offering, which is even more unique. The Dakui Pavilion Tower located next to Longjin Bridge was built in the Jiashen year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1884). It is a three-story pavilion style, with a brick tower granite base, blue brick tower walls, a hexagonal plane, and a hexagonal top, about 20 meters high.
