The history of the Duxiu Peak Royal City Scenic Area can be traced back to the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty more than 600 years ago. As early as the Northern and Southern Dynasties, the great writer Yan Yanzhi practiced writing and chanting poems at the foot of Duxiu Peak Mountain, which initiated the literary style in the Lingnan region. During the Tang Dynasty, the first government-run school in Guangxi's history was established here. During the Song Dynasty, Wang Zhenggong engraved the famous saying "Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" on Duxiu Peak, which has also become Guilin's representative advertising slogan. During the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang's military advisor Liu Bowen took a fancy to Duxiu Peak, a wind and water treasure, and later built the Jingjiang Prince's Palace. In the Qing Dynasty, the Jingjiang Prince's Palace was renamed Guangxi Gongyuan and became a large-scale imperial examination center in the southwest region. A total of 585 Jinshi and 4 Number One Scholars were produced, and one of the number one Number One Scholars was "Three Yuans". During the Republic of China, Sun Yat-sen came here during his Northern Expedition and set Jingjiang Palace as the base camp for the Northern Expedition. In 1954, Guangxi Normal University moved in.
