Description
The Xiaohezhi Street Historic District is located at the intersection of the Grand Canal, the Xiaohe River, and the Yuhe Tanghe River. Since the Southern Song Dynasty, Xiaohe Straight Street is the land and water distribution center for the North and South cargoes, and it has developed into an independent commercial street in the Qing Dynasty. At present, historical relics such as workshops, shops, and rivers are still preserved in the neighborhood. The small buildings on both sides of the street are surrounded by water, and the powder wall is covered with tiles. It is very characteristic of the modern Jiangnan water town. More than half of the aboriginal people have been retained in the neighborhood, which has effectively continued the folk customs and lifestyle of the traditional canals.
