The Hongkou Drifting Scenic Area in Dujiangyan, Sichuan Province, is located in the Hongkou-Longxi Nature Reserve and the Hongkou AAAA-level scenic area on the northwest border of Dujiangyan City, Chengdu. The scenic area boasts a superior natural environment, pleasant climate, and an altitude of around 1000 meters. It is abundant in lush vegetation, well-preserved primitive ecology, and rich negative ion content in the air, earning it the nickname "natural oxygen bar". The drifting river in Hongkou is the Baisha River, a tributary of the Minjiang River, with water quality meeting the requirements of Class I water in national surface water standards. The natural drifting river is characterized by its thrilling, unique, and beautiful features. The drifting water consists of melted snow, stream water, and underground spring water from the Guangguang Mountain, with abundant mineral content, clarity, and coolness, and an average temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius, making it a popular summer destination for tourists from both within and outside the province. The scenic area is located about 70 kilometers from Chengdu, approximately a 1 hour and 30 minutes drive, 18 kilometers from Dujiangyan City, and 35 kilometers from Mount Qingcheng.
The Hongkou Drifting Scenic Area is a mountainous outdoor sports leisure and vacation tourism area that integrates drifting, outdoor adventure sports, dining, accommodation, business conferences, and entertainment. The scenic area is equipped with certified safety and rescue personnel and boatmen, providing safe, professional, comfortable, and considerate tourism services for the drifting project, ensuring the safety of participants. In 2018, it was recognized as a "National Sports Industry Demonstration Project" by the General Administration of Sport of China. In 2019 and 2020, it was awarded the "2019 China Sports Tourism Boutique Event", "2020 China Sports Tourism Boutique Event", and "2019 China Sports Tourism Boutique Scenic Area" by the Sports Culture Development Center of the General Administration of Sport of China.
The Hongkou Drifting Scenic Area can accommodate up to 20,000 visitors per day. It has facilities for dining for more than 500 people, accommodation for 100 people, conference rooms for 120 people, 2,000 parking spaces, a bonfire barbecue music square for 200 people, a tea house for more than 500 people to enjoy tea by the riverside, and a leisure chess and card tea lounge. The scenic area is fully open, with no entrance fee. Visitors participating in the drifting project can make independent consumption choices. The natural river provides a continuous water source guarantee, eliminating the need for artificial water blocking. The operating hours are from April 28th to October 6th each year, from 9 am to 5 pm (with possible extension during summer).
Visitors who have successfully exchanged tickets are entitled to free services such as item storage (excluding small lockers), direct shuttle to the dock, safety and rescue personnel, hot showers, and drifting equipment. The natural river for drifting has a guaranteed water source, eliminating the need for artificial water blocking, and visitors can drift at any time during normal operating hours.
