Description
Jiezi Ancient Town is located in Chongzhou City at the foot of the Fengxi Mountains. With more than a thousand years of history, it is currently one of the preserved southwestern Chinese towns from which to experience the rich flavor of the Qing Dynasty. Nearly every building on both sides of the street in Jiezi Ancient Town are all excellently preserved examples of intermediate and late Qing period architecture. Either side of the street hosts all kinds of unique shops from which visitors can purchase delicious local snacks such as Tangma cakes, perfect for snacking as you stroll along. The lush trees of the Fengxi Mountains are close by Jiezi Ancient Town. In the mountains there is an ancient Zen Buddhist temple. Visitors to the temple can even catch a glimpse of the temple's copy of the Ming Dynasty “Hongwu Nanzang”—a Buddhist scripture that was printed in Nanjing during the reign of the Ming Emperor Hongwu (1368-1398).
