Description
The Goddess (Shennv) Peak is also called the Sunset Watching (Wangxia) Peak or the Beauty (Meiren) Peak. It is one of the twelve peaks of Mount Wu, located on the northern bank of the Great River of Gorge Wu, about 15 kilometers east of the county town of Mount Wu. The twelve peaks of Mount Wu all have their own characteristics. The Goddess Peak is the known of them for its supreme beauty. On the northern bank of the River of Gorge Wu, a giant rock pillar rises above the clouds surrounding the green mountain. Since the peak looks like a charming and delicate maiden, it is named the Goddess Peak. According to ancient myths, the Goddess Peak is the incarnation of Princess Yao. The youngest daughter of the Queen Mother of the West, the princess once helped the Great Yu of Xia to open up river canals and redirect flooding water.
