Description
Zhan Garden was built in the Jiajing Period of the Ming Dynasty. It was originally the palace of Xu Da, a hero of the Ming Dynasty. It is a long-standing historical garden in Nanjing. It has a history of more than 600 years. Together with Wuxi's Jichang Garden, Suzhou's Humble Administrator’s Garden and Lingering Garden, they are known as "the four famous gardens of Jiangnan." Zhan Garden is divided into two sections, the East and the West. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Historical Museum is the main tourist spot of the East Zhan Garden. The West Zhan Garden is a typical Jiangnan garden. The ancient buildings in the park contain galleries, flower baskets and winding corridors. These buildings and winding corridors divide the West Zhan Garden into five smaller courtyards and a main garden, while the artificial mountain serves as the main scene and backbone of the whole garden.
