Description
The Nanjing City Wall was constructed in the early years of the Ming Dynasty (1366-1386). It runs from north to south 10 km and spans 5.67 km wide from east to west. The Nanjing City Wall is different from other walls in China because of its irregular shape. There were originally 13 gates in the Nanjing City Wall during the Ming Dynasty. Today there are only a few that remain, of which the Gate of China is worth visiting.
