Description
The China Imperial Examination Museum (Jiangnan Gongyuan) is located in the southeast corner of Nanjing. One of the sites where imperial examinations were once given, it is one of the three most important structures in the Confucius Temple Area. During the Tongzhi Period of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), there were 20,644 examination rooms. The site also contains many gardens, patrol houses and living quarters. In fact, this location has been recognized as the largest imperial examination site in China.
