Description
Jingye Temple is located in the southwest of Xi'an City. It is one of the 142 key Buddhist temples in the Han nationality area identified by the State Council and the birthplace of the Buddhist Law School. Jingye Temple was built at the end of the Sui Dynasty, and reached its peak in the Tang Dynasty due to the promotion of Taoism, and then gradually declined. According to the Ming Dynasty "Dao Xuan Lawyers Brief Biography" and the Qing Dynasty Bell and Drum Tower Stele records: there was a rebuilding in the second year of Ming Zhengtong (1437), and it was repaired during the Longqing year. In the fifty-second year of Kangxi (1713), the temple monks rebuilt Daoxuan Lawyer Tower. In the eighteenth year of Jiaqing (1813), the temple was rebuilt. The current Jingye Temple has been funded and maintained by the government after the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee. The mountain gate, the Tianwang Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Zushi Hall, the Zen Hall, the Guest Hall, and the Monk's Dormitory have been rebuilt, and the Wuguan Hall and the kitchen have been added. The temple faces south and is located on the mountainside, facing Qinghua Mountain in the east, Fengyu River in the west, and broad and bright in the south, overlooking Guanyin and Jiuding peaks. The overall style of the building is simple and elegant, and the scale is magnificent. It not only has the style of southern Jiangsu gardens, but also reflects the cultural heritage of Buddhism.
