Quanzhou
Quanzhou is located to the northeast of Xiamen, across the sea from Taiwan. It is one of of the three great cities of Fujian and is known as "the coast of Lu and Zou." Quanzhou is a city famous for its history and culture. The accumulated history and culture have a rich legacy, and its famous historical sites and ruins are broadly scattered hither and thither throughout the city. Its treasures of history receive worldwide attention, and here one can rapidly understand the meaning of the saying "Look down to see Xi’an and up to see Quanzhou." Quanzhou was also the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road. Since ancient times, a multitude of religions have coexisted here, and Eastern and Western cultures have converged and flourished. The many religious antiquities form a unique cultural landscape with great historical and artistic value.
Haikou
Haikou is the capital of Hainan, with a much more cultural air than Sanya. Aside from the parks of coconut groves, beaches, mangrove forests and volcanoes, you can see natural landscapes as well as the historical arcades and the Five Officials’ Temple. The Mission Hills H‧Brothers Feng Xiaogang Film Commune, also known simply as Haikou Movie Town, is a new attraction. Here you can see the classic scenes from the movie "Back to 1942" and backdrops of a pre-war Southeast Asia and Hong Kong, as well as experience this city's historical changes over a hundred years. It is also an excellent place to take photos.
Zhongshan
Zhongshan has a long and storied history. In the past, it was known as "Xiangshan". Later on, the name was changed to memorialize Dr. Sun Yat-sen. He is widely considered the greatest citizen ever produced by this city. There are several sites in Zhongshan that memorialize Dr. Sun Yat-sen, including the Former Residence and Memorial Hall of Sun Yat-sen, the Sun Yat-sen Gardens and Zhongshan Movie & Television Town. The ancient-style buildings on Sunwen West Road and in Xiaolan Town are very suitable for photography lovers to come and take photos. Changjiang Water World in the southern suburbs of Zhongshan is an excellent place to go for a holiday outing with children. There are all kinds of splashingly fun amusements and water rides, making it a nice place to cool off. Sweethearts should consider taking a ride on the Symphony Ferris Wheel. Alone with your beloved one atop the giant wheel, you have an unparalleled view of the Zhongshan nightscape.
Foshan
Foshan is one of the centers of Lingnan culture. Cantonese opera, Wushu (also known as kung fu), dragon dance and ceramics are all common here. Foshan’s Ancestral Temple showcases a pillar of the local culture. Other than going to look at classically elegant Lingnan architecture, there are also Wushu and dragon dance performances for you to enjoy. Foshan is also the hometown of many Wushu masters such as Ip Man, Wong Fei-hong and Bruce Lee. Lingnan Tiandi is a cultural and art district that was transformed into its current state from traditional old residential areas. The old-meets-new district has become a new landmark in Foshan. Shunde is famous for food. It is the origin of one of the most important schools of Cantonese cooking and, as a result, this place attracts the interest of many gourmets and gourmands.
Huizhou
Huizhou is very close to Hong Kong. This is a heavily-infused Hakka area and a historic city famous for being a nice place to live. Huizhou has a relaxed old district where a slow pace of life is the norm. You can visit the West Lake, or the old city walls. There are many vacation spots nearby such as Luofu Mountain and Nankun Mountain with their wooded mountain scenery or Daya Bay and Xunliao Bay with entrancing ocean landscapes. You can also go to Longmen County and soak in the hot springs. It is a nice way to spend a relaxed holiday break.
Zhuhai
Zhuhai is also called the City of a Hundred Islands. The slow pace of life here and the romantic ocean landscape make this place very suitable for living. Zhuhai is close to Macau. In the downtown area, when walking along Lover’s Road and looking out at the oceanscape, you can see the city of Macau in the distance. The fisherwoman statue and seashell-shaped Zhuhai Opera House are one of Zhuhai's famous symbolic landmarks. The ocean-themed Hengqin Chimelong Ocean Kingdom is greatly beloved by children. Zhuhai has become a popular choice for family trips and outings with children. Downtown Zhuhai is quite compact. Many people all ride bikes or stroll slowly along Qinglu Road, or Lover’s Road, enjoying the urban landscape. If you want to experience an even more beautiful ocean scenery or eat seafood, you can visit one of the many outlying islands and take a relaxing holiday.
