The Monument to the People's Heroes is situated in the center of Tiananmen Square in Beijing. It is constructed to commemorate the people's heroes who perished in the People's Liberation War and the People's Revolution. It is one of the popular buildings on Tiananmen Square and one of the symbolic complexes of the Republic. It attracts a large number of people every day. Visitors came to offer tribute to the memorial. The Monument to the People's Heroes is made up of granite and white marble. It is divided into three parts: the body of the statue, the pedestal and the sacred seat. The front of the monument has the eight characters of the "people's heroes are immortal" inscribed by Chairman Mao. On the back, there is inscription made by Chairman Mao and Premier Zhou Enlai.
