Description
Yunju Temple is located in Shuitou Village, Dashiwo Town, Fangshan District, southwest of Beijing, 70 kilometers from the city center. Yunju Temple, Shijing Mountain Scripture Cave and Tang and Liao Pagoda Group constitute a treasure house of Chinese Buddhist culture. Yunju Temple was built in the late Sui Dynasty and early Tang Dynasty. It was originally named "Zhiquan Temple" and later renamed "Yunju Temple". The temple covers an area of 0.07 square kilometers. After repairs from successive dynasties, it has formed five courtyards and six halls. It was destroyed by Japanese artillery fire in the 1940s and underwent two large-scale restorations after liberation. Yunju Temple is a national 4A-level tourist Attraction and a national key cultural relic protection unit.
