Description

Yuanwang-1 is the first generation of comprehensive aerospace ocean-going survey ship designed and built by China. It has a depth of 38 meters, a speed of up to 20 knots, and a cruising range of 100 days. The ship was launched in August 1977 and put into use in 1978, becoming a pioneer in China's aerospace ocean-going measurement and control business. In September 2008, after completing the maritime measurement and control missions of the Shenzhou VII spacecraft and the Venezuelan communications satellite, the ship returned to China safely on November 12, successfully completing the "back-up" battle. In the 32 years from 1978 to 2010, the ship has made 44 expeditions to the ocean, safely sailed for more than 2,600 days and 440,000 nautical miles, and successfully completed 57 major scientific research and experimental missions such as long-range carrier rockets, meteorological satellites, and manned spacecraft. It enjoys the reputation of "Marine Science City" and has made great contributions to the country and the nation. It has won the first-class collective merit once, the second-class merit six times, and the third-class merit three times, and won the title of "Outstanding Contribution Collective of China's Manned Space Engineering". After successfully completing 32 years of marine scientific research missions, the ship was officially retired. At about 15:00 on November 26, 2011, the ship successfully entered the No. 2 dock of the original site of Shanghai Jiangnan Shipyard. On October 22, 2010, the ship was Complimentary to Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Company by China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department. In order to let future generations remember history and further promote China's military industry culture, national defense culture and marine culture, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Company will further draw on the experience of successfully participating in the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, and build the China Shipbuilding Pavilion, the Translation Hall of Jiangnan Machinery Manufacturing General Administration, the No. 2 dock of the original site of Jiangnan and the Yuanwang No. 1 survey ship into a three-in-one display platform, making the original site of Jiangnan a cultural and artistic exposition holy land integrating contemporary shipbuilding and military industry, ships and ocean, and even aerospace and navigation.
